Final Day: Bittersweet Goodbye

To our darling Leah,

Today is a day filled with mixed emotions. It marks the end of our official bonding period and you are one step closer to becoming part of our family. For this we celebrate. However, now we must return home to await our court date in approximately 40 days. It is with heavy hearts we must return home without you. Your caregivers have told us that you get excited when being dressed for our bonding visits, and that you have grown accustom to our touch and affection. We hate to imagine what you will think in the coming days when we no longer visit. It is difficult to explain to your brother when he asks every morning if you are coming home with us today. It is simply an unfortunate part of the required process. We have left a camera with your caregivers to take pictures in the weeks we will miss. We have also left a toy we played with as a reminder of us.

Sleep well, eat well and know we are returning for you soon!

Hi Susan and family,
we know this is a difficult time, when you just had to leave your child in the babyhouse. But she is in very good hands! It's good you left some things for her, they really give it to her. Mila plays still with the toys we left there.
These 40 days will pass very quickly. And then you can take Leah home!

Before you know it tomorrow will be today! There's an old adage that says that one should never say goodbye, only...... till we meet again. And soon your over the rainbow dream will be fulfilled and Leah will be a blessed part of your beautiful family. We can't wait to meet you Leah! With all our love, Gigi and Poppa

OK - so this made me cry. You know me - I am a bag of tears. Well, bless you all and we can't wait to have you all home and safely back in NC (including Leah). Hang in there over these next 40 days. You are all so brave and amazing - Leah is so lucky to have you as a family and you her.
